It is very rewarding when St. Elizabeth alumni send their children to our school. Two parents tell us about what coming to St. Elizabeth meant in their lives and why they chose to send their children here.

Attending St. Elizabeth Catholic School provided me with two gifts, moral fortitude and self-efficacy. As a teen confronted with peer pressure and society’s temptations, I was able to draw upon my faith and Catholic teachings for strength and wisdom. I was and still am, by all accounts, extremely conscientious. My life has been made easier, happier, and more simple and peaceful because of my moral fortitude. Living as a Light of Christ, I have always made decisions and teach my children to make decisions, based on the following principle: Make sure that wherever you are and whatever you are saying or doing, if Jesus walked through the door, would you be happy to see Him. For some day, He shall come again.

The gift of self-efficacy has profoundly influenced me as a teaching professional. An administrator once evaluated me as “unable to relate to and teach low-achievers.” His misconceptions and inaccurate assessment of my abilities challenged me to surpass obstacles that I never dreamed were possible. I knew who I was and what I could do. Misguided judgments could not and would not define me. Today, I successful teach at Michigan’s premier alternative high school for “at-risk” students who have extreme difficulties and challenges. The students I teach are the epitome of whom I was not as a teenager and student; yet, God’s call to serve them is great within me.

I pray that St. Elizabeth Area Catholic School will continue to strengthen its students with the gifts of moral fortitude and self-efficacy. These are gifts that last a life time and will lead one to God’s greatest gift of eternal life.

"I attended St. Elizabeth and my husband attended St. Michael's so we were both familiar with the many benefits of a parochial school. We wanted our children to have the same experiences and opportunities that we had.

St. Elizabeth provides our girls with many things ….. a high quality education, small class size, caring teachers and support staff, community service opportunities. Most importantly, it provides our children with the opportunity to learn in a Christian environment where religion and prayer are an integral part of their daily lives.

We feel that we are fortunate to have the opportunity to give our children a good, strong foundation to build on. We are very grateful for the parish’s continued support of the school."
